Video of the Day: Anna Coddington – ‘Kātuarehe’

Our Video of the Day today is ‘Kātuarehe’ by Ngāti Tūwharetoa and Te Arawa powerhouse Anna Coddington.

Kātuarehe’ meaning “to be outstanding, marvelous” in English, lays down the blueprint for Coddington’s new album. The track and album both move effortlessly from te reo Māori to English, bringing a sound which Coddington herself dubbed “Māori funk”.

Kātuarehe’ has a video to match the energy – all the more vibrant and all the more fun – perfect for you to kanikani to all through your Rāhoroi and beyond. The video was shot and edited by Fen Ikner, made with the support of Te Māngai Pāho.

Check out the anthem below and tune in āpōpō (and every day of New Zealand Music Month) for a new Video of the Day!
