Touring Well With Jon Toogood

May 31st 2019
We talk to Jon Toogood of Shihad & The Adults about touring well.

What do you always do before you go onstage?
Drink heaps of water. Stretch my body. Warm up my vocals. Connect with my band mates by running through the set list with them. Breath and get my head ready to destroy (in a good way)

How many days in a row can you perform? - before your voice/body needs a break.
4 or 5. But even then my voice would prefer 2 or 3.

What hacks do you have to make sure you get enough rest?
Cut out relatively quickly - and politely - after the show and go get myself a feed. Try not to have too much caffeine before the show. I also stay away from drinking if I know there's a show the next day.

If eating a balanced diet is important to you, how are you able to find healthy options while you are touring?
Google helps and a bit of pre planning depending on your itinerary. Go grocery shopping during the day so you have healthy stuff on hand (fruit/salads etc.) Drink plenty of water.

What do you enjoy most about touring?
The hour onstage.
